Mind-blowing sunsets.

Of course, we can't guarantee sunsets during your stay. But we are often overwhelmed by the fantastic colours and atmosphere of the evenings here. We can see the sun set from Strumhor between April and October. The pictures were taken from the rocks just 100 meters from Strumhor. I promise you that I made no adjustments to the images and no filters were used.

Location

The house and most of the guest rooms directly overlook the falls of Lora, with wider views to Ben Lora, the Mountains of Morven, Lismore and the Firth of Lorn.

Glencoe, Fort William, Nevis and Crinan are all within a 45 minute drive

For kayakers, divers and anglers, there is access to the water just across the road.

Strumhor is a spacious house with magnificent views over the Falls of Lora, offering delicious home-cooked food. We love the Highlands, the islands and the ocean and want to create a special place for people to relax and enjoy them.

Begin your visit with home-baking and tea or coffee in our conservatory overlooking the sea, the hills and islands, where you can see a variety of birds, seals and sometimes even otters.

Bedrooms are decorated in a contemporary style and most overlook the sea. Lorn has a king-size bed, a stunning sea view and an ensuite bathroom.

Upstairs we have two single rooms sharing a shower room.

Every bedroom has a television with DVD or video. Feel free to borrow DVDs, videos or books from our library.

The lounge has a wood-burning stove and piano. You are welcome to use the television, DVD, video and CD players.

There is an extensive breakfast menu with freshly baked bread and choices such as scrambled egg with smoked salmon, pancakes with maple syrup or lighter choices as well as the full Scottish breakfast. Have a look at our breakfast menu.

Dinner using local ingredients is available on request. Bring your own wine or beer.

All prices are per person for Bed and Breakfast for winter and summer.

Lorn - A spacious double room with king-sized bed, en-suite bath/shower and its own sitting area with a sea view - £30 to £35

Morvern - Ground floor room on the south side of the house with en-suite shower and WC - £25 - £27.

Appin and Etive - Lovely single rooms with views of the Falls of Lora. With wash basins in the room and a shared shower room - £25 - £27.

All rooms have TV with DVD or Video and tea/coffee making facilities.

You can also enjoy our conservatory with panoramic views and a comfortable lounge with TV/video/DVD.
WiFi Internet access is available.

Three-course evening meals are available three nights a week at £20.

Things You Need To Know

We usually serve breakfast between 07:45 and 08:45. But if you need an early start, we will provide a buffet.

On the buffet are cereals, fruit juice, toast, fruit and yoghurt.

The selection varies: dried fruit compote, grapefruit, melon, fresh summer fruits with plain or fruit yoghurt

Sometimes there is also home-made granola. Porridge is available on request. Try it with whisky, rasins and brown sugar

We only use local free range eggs

Then you can choose from the following:

Traditional breakfast:
You can choose all or any of these: Bacon, egg, mushrooms, tomato, sausages, black pudding, potato scone, haggis.

Strumhor specials:
Pancakes with Maple Syrup with or without bacon
Scrambled eggs on toast, on their own or with smoked salmon or bacon
Poached eggs on toast
Grilled kipper with or without poached egg

The lighter choice:
Two croissants with or without cheese
Tea and coffee

There is always plenty of fresh coffee and tea. We have speciality teas available.

EVENING MEAL MENUS
We offer quality three-course meals from £20, available three nights a week.

If you would like a meal, please let us know when you book your accommodation.

We provide a set menu using local produce as much as possible. Please let us know if there is anything you don't like

We normally serve at 6.30 but if you are the only guests eating that night, we can be more flexible with the time.

We don't have a licence, so you are free to bring your own wine and beer

If our menus do not appeal to you, there are three restaurants within walking distance. We are happy to make reservations for you there.

Of course, we are not always able to provide meals and menus are subject to availability.
