Our gardens have some special visitors which can be seen from both our public rooms and bedrooms. Look out for our family of red squirrels and roe deer and keep a special watchout for the many seals in the loch at the front of the house. The house is also perfect for bird watching with both woodland and shore birds.

All of our breakfast produce is locally supplied and where possible we use organically grown and fair trade products.

Let us take the strain and stress leaving everyone free to relax and enjoy themselves. We have extensive gardens to explore and of course the loch and beach are right in front of the house.

We can offer you everything you need whether it be just bed & breakfast or arranging additional catering, music and any other extras you would like. We can accommodate up to 16 persons but smaller parties can also be catered for.

Individually planned parties are priced dependant on your specifications and requirements.

Location

The Guest House is perfectly located for visits to Inveraray, Dunoon, Oban and many more of the beautiful surrounding west coast of scotland's areas. It is also perfectly located for the famous Loch Lomond National Park with its lavish land offering a range of leisure opportunities; such as scenic drives, local crafts, rambling, sailing, fishing, hill walking, boat trips, historical sites, pony trekking and of course Scotland's most famous sport, golf.

Paul and Yvonne welcome you to Thistle House Guest House, a beautiful spacious victorian country house situated in a large pretty wooded garden, overlooking Loch Fyne to Inveraray and its famous castle.

Thistle House has been providing quality guest house accommodation for over 30 years with many of its guests returning year after year. The accommodation has just undergone a high quality refurbishment to enhance this already beautiful Victorian house.

The Bedrooms
Our well appointed spacious bedrooms are individually named after local clans of the surrounding west coast of Scotland. Each room has a small history of the clan and a display of their tartan and crest.
Room types : 4 double, 1 twin, 2 family, all ensuite.


The Lounge
The impressive lounge is always a talking point amongst our guests and is indeed the perfect place for meeting and chatting to other guests. It overlooks the loch and has an impressive, romantic open log fire where you can relax in the comfy sofas enjoying a wee dram on us. The lounge also has an array of books and information on the local area.


All of the bedrooms have just been refurbished with the latest high quality ensuite facilities. Each of the rooms feature large, flat screen remote control colour TVs, DVD/CD players, radio alarm clocks, hospitality trays, hairdryers, individually controlled central heating, fluffy towelling robes, slippers and a high quality range of Pascal Morabito Complimentary Toiletry range. For those warmer days a picnic blanket for use during your stay.

There is a choice of luxurious Victorian 4 poster, kingsize, family, double and twin bedrooms. All rooms have have beautiful loch or garden views. For the comfort and safety of our guests our guest house operates a no smoking policy.

Dining Room
The Dining Room benefits from wonderful views over Loch Fyne to Inveraray and the castle. All of our breakfast produce is locally supplied and where possible we use organically grown and fair trade products.

Check in is from 4 - 5pm. We do not hold rooms after 5pm without prior arrangement. Check out is 10:30am.

Directions

By car
Thistle House is most easily accessed by car. If you are driving from Glasgow you can either come on the A82 alongside Loch Lomond and then the A83 from Tarbet then the A815 to St Catherines.

Or you can take the car ferry across the Clyde to from Gourock to Dunoon and then follow the A815 to St Catherines.

If you are coming from the North take either the A82 or A85 to Crianlarich then take the A82 to Tarbet, the A83 then turn off onto the A815 to St Catherines.

Coming from Oban follow the signs to Inveraray, turn left at Inveraray round the top of the loch and join the A815 to St Catherines.
