Situated at the northern end of beautiful Rydal Water, between Grasmere and Windermere, in the heart of the Lake District, this historic house, has been the home of Sue and Peter Dixon since 1981. During those years they have gained many accolades for their award winning hospitality.

Our location 2 miles from Ambleside and 1 mile from Grasmere gives you easy access to a huge selection of restaurants, pubs, bistros and cafes.

White Moss House has just 5 individual bedrooms, a large lounge with log fire , comfortable sofas and chairs, lots of books, magazines and games, a sunny flower filled terrace, and a cosy dining room where the award winning breakfast is served.

There is a large free car park, and guests who want to reduce their carbon footprint can explore on foot along the historic paths loved by Wordsworth, Coleridge , De Quincey, Ruskin and Beatrix Potter or use the local bus which stops outside.

White Moss House is the ideal place in the Lake District for a house party. For small groups of friends and families exclusive use of the hotel and restaurant makes this a perfect place for a reunion or celebration.
