Things You'll Love
Dartmouth is only approximately a ten minute drive away (or for the more energetic, an hours walk along the coastal path, where the most spectacular sea and countryside views can be enjoyed). To visit, there is Dartmouth Castle, the Old Battery, Dartmouth Museum, the world famous Britannia Royal Naval College, the Royal Avenue Gardens, Bayard's Cove, The Market (mainly Friday's) and Foss Street/Duke Street/Anzac Street where there are interesting shops & galleries & café's. Not forgetting the Royal Regatta, held annually (August). A short trip over the ferry can take you to Kingswear, Torquay, Torbay, Paignton or Brixham. Also a short trip from Dartmouth is the ancient Totnes which provides excellent shopping as well as being a town steeped in history.
Perhaps known best for its free-roaming ponies, Dartmoor is one of the finest National parks. Whilst you can enjoy by car, you can really capture the beautiful landscape & history on foot.
Location
Channel View is situated in the coastal village of Stoke Fleming in the South Hams, a designated area of outstanding natural beauty and one of Devon's "Best Kept Villages".
Stoke Fleming is situated less than three miles from the historic naval port of Dartmouth. The village has many excellent amenities including a shop with post office, petrol station with further shop, fish restaurant (& take-away), 2 pubs (both which serve food), hotel with restaurant open to non-residents & the beach at Blackpool Sands with cafe & beach shop.
For those that enjoy walking, the coastal paths in either direction are a must, offering wonderful views of the coast & surrounding countryside. Several golf courses are located nearby.
Owner's Description
Channel View finished the final stages of an intensive refurbishment scheme in April 2006 & all of the spacious bedrooms have been tastefully decorated & newly furnished and all en-suite shower/bathrooms have been totally replaced with modern appliances & pressurised, thermostatic showers. Having undergone such a level of improvements, it is our obligation to continue to maintain the high standards that we believe we have achieved.
Guests can enjoy their breakfast in one of the two dining rooms or on the terrace, all of which offer stunning sea views, as does the guests garden and some bedrooms. For the comfort of all our guests, we do ask that guests do not smoke within the house, though we do understand that you are on holiday and as such, whilst guests are obviously welcome to smoke in the garden or on the terrace, we also offer an outdoor undercover smoking area with lighting & tables & chairs for your comfort.
Channel View is only a ten minute walk to the award winning beach at Blackpool Sands and we have ample off road car parking for all our guests (on the basis of one car per room). We welcome families and in addition to offering a family room, we also offer a rarer 'family suite' which is two bedrooms (master and twin) with en-suite bathroom with bath & shower. The family suite has its own balcony (with direct access from both bedrooms) and all rooms within the suite benefit from incredible sea views.
We recognise at Channel View that leaving a valued family member in kennels when going on holiday is often not an option and so we welcome dogs (and their well behaved owners!), by prior arrangement at no additional charge.
