We are in an ideal location for both golf and hill-walking holidays, with easy access to Arthur's Seat and the Pentland Hills as well as excellent local golf courses.

You are guaranteed warm Scottish hospitality from resident owners David and Margaret, who aim to make their guests feel welcome and at home in comfortable surroundings.

We been awarded a Scottish Tourist board 4 star rating and have single,double,twin and family rooms available.



Each centrally heated room is en-suite and is individually and tastefully furnished with many homely extras.



Television, radio, DVD, wireless internet connection, hairdryers and hospitality trays with a selection of refreshments are provided in every room for your convenience.

We provide a full Scottish breakfastfor you every morning as well as continental choices, fresh fruit and cereal.

Our rooms on the first floor

Room 2 - Twin/Double: This spacious en-suite room can serve as a twin or double. It is beautifully decorated to a high standard and is very quiet and peaceful as it is towards the back of Gifford house.

Room 4 - Family: This was originally the drawing room of the house and retains magnificent cornices. It is an impressive room located at the front of the house and is perfect for those wanting a spacious and relaxing break.

Our rooms on the second floor

Room 5 - Twin/Double: Situated towards the back of the property this large room boasts an superb view over Arthur's Seat. It is decorated to a high standard with your comfort in mind.

Room 6 - Double: Also at the back of the house this double has a large king-sized bed and excellent views towards Arthur's Seat. It is the perfect choice for a tranquil stay.

Room 7 - Double: This double room is at the front of the property with dramatic views to the Pentland Hills.

Room 8 - Family: This spacious room is at the front of the house and has an excellent view of the Pentland Hills and ski slope. This room has been refurbished in a Rennie Mackintosh theme and contains two double beds and one single.

Things You Need To Know

Although we are located centrally in Edinburgh, Gifford house is a peaceful haven away from hustle and bustle of city life.

Train: Arrive at Waverley Station - taxi from Waverley takes about 5 minutes, approximate cost £5.00.

Bus: Take the red LRT buses no 30 or 33 from the shop side of Princes Street, get off the stop after the Commonwealth Pool - fare one way is £1. You may also want to buy a "day saver" allowing unlimited access all day for £2.30.

Car: Take the Edinburgh city bypass until you reach the Sherriffhall roundabout. Take the A7 turn off towards Edinburgh and follow the road for approximately 4 miles until you reach Dalkieth Road. Gifford House is on Dalkieth Road on the right hand side.

Plane: There is a bus service from the airport to Waverley Bridge in the city centre. You can also take a taxi from the airport which would cost around £18.00.
