The Spindrift Guest House
St. Andrews, Fife, Scotland
"Thoroughly recommended for a warm welcome and personal service. The Spindrift is an imposing stone built Victorian home offering good home cooking using the best of Scottish produce."
Things You'll Love
A unique feature of the house is the Captain's Room, on the top floor. This was the special domain of the original owner of the house, a Tea Clipper Captain called Smith, who made the room into the replica of a ship master's cabin, with its small east facing window looking towards Anstruther, where he could see the tea clippers and the fishing fleet in the harbour. Now centrally heated (like the rest of the house), and with its own private bathroom, The Captain's Room is especially popular with couples of all ages, providing attractive, comfortable and particularly memorable accommodation. Owner's Description
horoughly recommended for a warm welcome and personal service. The Spindrift is an imposing stone built Victorian home offering good home cooking using the best of Scottish produce.
This sturdy Victorian house was once the home of a sea captain and is spacious and commodious. The generous hosts have added many nice touches; there are even teddy bears to welcome you to the en-suite rooms, which are exceptionally attractive and comfortable; you can see across the Firth of Forth to Edinburgh from some of them.
njoy your Scottish Breakfast and sample the Award Winning Porridge in the well appointed dining room.
Dinner is available by prior arrangement and the menu is changed daily.
For something different, try the Captain's room, which the old salt had done out like a ship's cabin, with wood-clad walls, and a small window looking out towards the harbour.
Downstairs is a very comfortable bar-lounge with a fine selection of malts and distinctive Scottish ales, perfect for a pre- or post-dinner drink. Your hosts cook dinner by arrangement, and also put on a generous breakfast, including porridge which has been voted best in the Kingdom!
