Location

No 40 is a late Victorian (1896) property situated in the quiet and fashionable Bootham area of York: a 5 minute gentle stroll to the old city walls: a 10 minute stroll from the remarkable Minster and the many attractions in the city centre.

No 40 is fully centrally heated and has two letting rooms - Rose and Daisy.

Rose (formerly a Victorian drawing room) is a super-king, or twin-bedded, room according to your needs. It is en-suite and also has:
* a settee
* cable, including Sky Sports, television
* tea and coffee-making facilities
* hairdryer
* an iron and ironing board
* original Victorian fireplace and much more...
Rose is a room which evokes memories of the past with the facilities of today.

Daisy is a doubled-bedded room. Like Rose this room has:
* en-suite facilities
* cable, including Sky Sports, television
* tea and coffee-making facilities
* hairdryer
* an iron and ironing board
* original Victorian fireplace
Daisy overlooks the courtyard garden. According to dictionary definitions, the word 'Daisy' refers to "something excellent and notable". We are confident that our "Daisy" will provide you with a base for a memorable stay in York ensured of an excellent service from No 40.

Breakfast is served in the dining room normally at 8:30am or at an alternative time by prior arrangement. The dining room is furnished traditionally and, at breakfast, you will be greeted by a table of fine Wedgewood tableware with which to enjoy:
* A selection of fruit juices and cereals
* A selection of breakfast fruits and yoghurt
* Yorkshire tea or a cafetiere of freshly ground Italian coffee (and there's always more)
* White or wholemeal toast (available for you to make to your liking in the dining room - and there's always more)
* A selection of preserves including home-made marmalade
* Full English breakfast, includes: Bacon, Lincolnshire sausages, Yorkshire Farm Free-range eggs (fried, scrambled or poached), mushrooms, grilled tomatoes
* A selection of fresh fruit according to season is always available
* Warm vegetarian options available by prior request
