Watch Hen Harriers follow the flight path of our fields of sown birdseed.We have a pair that are living here now. Various Hawks are also often seen around the farm.Phesants,Partidges are often seen around the garden and trees.

Our own farmland has fields of birdseed and hedges to feed and encourage wildlife with the farm being enviromentaly friendly. Working with the enviroment. Trees and bushes have been planted to encourage wildlife.Ponds with natural water, every year we have our Oyster Catchers,Lapwings,Red Shanks, Shell ducks etc all can be seen from the house.

We have a colony of artic terns round our shoreline which have been building up over the last few years. Enjoy taking breakfast watching the feeding birds,wrens,greenfinches,swallows and mr robin in the garden, and even watch hen harriers in flight.

Wake up to birdsong in the morning and moonlight over the sea in the evening,and if the weather is fine bright starry skies.

Owner's Description

The Victorian style double-storey farmhouse is centrally heated and tastefully furnished to offer our guests a relaxed, peaceful atmosphere.

Our first-floor sunroom, overlooking the garden, allows guests to relax in comfort. The lounge is spacious and comfortable with TV, video, games, magazines and books, many of which are about Orkney.

Hilton Farmhouse is licensed, and offers guests good wines and fine malt whiskies to complement the good food on offer.

Hilton Farmhouse is less than a mile from the ferry terminal.

Turn right as you come off the Shapinsay Ferry carry on along the village,following the road past the school and the old mill. (Ceramics).
Follow the road up the hill till you get to a crossroads.(War Memorial)

Carry straight on for 200 meters on your left is Hilton Farmhouse. signposted and car parking area.

If on foot let us know and we will come and collect you.
