Guide To Holidaying In Lincolnshire

A guide by Tarryn Paul

Lincolnshire Lincolnshire is perhaps most famously known as Pride and Prejudice country, as it is the fictional location of Jane Austen's most famous work. It's got beautiful countryside and has activities to suit the whole family.
Lincoln is perhaps most famous for its cathedral, the silhouette of which can be seen from almost anywhere in the city. With a 2000 year history, there is plenty to see and to do in this vibrant place.

Skegness' award-winning sandy beach is not the only thing it has to offer. It's the perfect location for a family break, from its seal centre to its kids adventure parks.

The charming market town of Alford has become an important location for arts and crafts, so for the artist in you, it's a great place to visit. Their annual arts and crafts market is renowned all over the country.

Bathed in royal history, Gainsborough is a beautiful red-brick market town with plenty to keep you entertained. Gainsborough Old Hall is a must-see and has the best Baronial hall in the country.

Stamford is 'the finest Scene between London and Edinburgh' according to Sir Walter Scott, and its easy to see why. With a fine selection of 17th and 18th century buildings, it has a thriving market and also boasts many walking routes.

Annual Lincolnshire events range from a variety of Farmer's Markets to events at Lincolnshire Castle. Spalding has an annual flower festival in May, and Tetford's scarecrow is the perfect family event, also held in May.

My favourite place in the county is Lincoln. A fabulous historic city, Lincoln has everything to offer from fabulous shopping to historical monuments. And when the hustle and bustle of the city gets too much, there's no better place to escape to then the glorious Lincoln Cathedral.

There's plenty to do in Lincolnshire, and many fantastic ways to how best to keep the family entertained. When you get hungry, Lincolnshire has many fabulous restaurants to suit all tastes. All in all a fabulous county that must be visited.
