Get your walking boots on for Walking Festival in the South of Scotland

"Walking the Tweed Valley" is the theme for the Borders Walking Festival which runs from 4 to 12 September 2010.

Walking the Tweed Valley is the theme for the Borders Walking Festival which runs from 4 to 12 September. Did you know that it is the longest established walking festival in Scotland.

It takes place in a different part of the Scottish Borders each year and 2010's theme is "Walking the Tweed Valley".

Based in the Royal Burgh of Peebles, the Festival will celebrate the area's stunning scenery with walks taking place in and around Peebles, Innerleithen, Walkerburn, West Linton and Selkirk. Try a strenuous hike along the John Buchan Way or an easy walk for all the family along a "treasure trail". Away from the walks, take part in a ceilidh, listen to a talk or enjoy some traditional music.
Help create the largest record of Britain's wildlife at Drumlanrig Castle on 26 September, part of a nationwide BioBlitz. Nature novices will be helped by rangers in tasks including "worm charming", fungi foraging and a tree quiz. Please click here to find out more about the Walking Festival.
